About
The aim of ‘Put Things Right’ is to expose every child in our local community to relevant and localised road safety education and the harsh reality of the consequences of ignoring that advice through quality media presentations and inspirational teaching. ‘Put Things Right’ also aims to support national initiatives campaigning to make the wearing of cycle helmets a legal requirement.
On July 1st 2012, the communities of Hucknall, Papplewick and Linby were rocked when 15 year old Harrison Carlin was killed whilst travelling to his friend's house on a bike.
As is often the case, out of the heart breaking grief that followed, 'Put Things Right' was born. Initially, the organisation was formed by Harrison's two close friends Jack Chaplin and Corey Palin.
Jack and Corey continue to lead the organisation and now have a wider support network behind them to enable them to concentrate on what they do best....'Putting things right'.
Further motivation for the organisation came weeks later when another local young person, Jeff Townley was killed only 1.5 miles from the spot that Harrison died.
The group currently meets monthly and actively raises funds that in the 2013/2014 academic year will be used to expose every child in the surrounding community to 'relevant and localised road safety education'.
